Via rainbow_goddess, we learn that the USA has joined forces with Iran and several other nations to ban LGBT organizations from the United Nations.

Via jenwrites, a very touching story about groups of bikers (that's motorcyclists) who travel the country to attend funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq and shield the mourners from the disgusting homophobic protests of Fred Phelps and his followers. (If you're not familiar with Phelps, he's a slimy evil piece of crap who calls himself a Christian and claims that God kills American soldiers in Iraq as punishment for the USA's supposed gay-friendliness.)

In less inflammatory news, via bethbethbeth comes this interesting New Yorker article about a guy suffering from unexplained amnesia.

And on the light-n-fluffy side, via ww1614 comes this hilarious parody of a freshman composition paper in which the author compares and contrasts two movies: Brokeback Mountain and Curious George. With moderate spoilers for both movies, if you care about that kind of thing.

1) I cannot believe that Phelps protests at military funerals. I hope when he dies, that everyone he has ever protested against go to his funeral and do the same so that his family will need to suffer the same way. If he's so literal about the Bible, then this is an eye for an eye.

I know. It totally boggles my mind that anyone would think that picketing a funeral -- ANY funeral! -- is okay. Especially from someone who calls himself a Christian. Of course, most Christians I know are ashamed/embarrassed/angry to be lumped together with the likes of Phelps.
