mamajoan: me in hammock (waaah)
Well, we hied off to our family's summer cottage this past weekend with my mom, and now I am back at work, sunburnt and itchy. (From the bug bites. The sunburn isn't at the itchy stage yet. I expect that in another couple of days.)

Having taken Friday off and worked from home Thursday, I am back at the office now after a five-day absence. And a lot has been going on while I was away. This afternoon we have a company meeting to discuss changes to the company (which I am not yet allowed to talk about, but don't worry, it's not anything bad like layoffs). The company meeting is noon to 1:30, with lunch provided. But I have a dentist appointment at 1:00, which I totally forgot about this morning and so I didn't brush my teeth or bring my toothbrush to the office. I am so dreading this dentist appointment -- and now even more so, because it means I'm going to miss most of the company meeting. I shall ask some coworkers to take notes and get me up to speed, but it won't be the same as actually being there. Sigh.

I seem to have somehow managed to acquire a mosquito bite on the bottom of my foot. ARGH.

In cheerier news, we saw many frogs at the cottage, and Isaac was fascinated. I took a picture of one, but it didn't come out too well. I may post it here anyway. I also took many naked-toddler-playing-in-the-sun pictures. ;)

Is it Friday yet?

I have returned from the dentist, not too much the worse for wear. Wow, dental technology has come a long way since I was a kid. Now they use all lasers and water and sonar, rather than drills and stuff. It made cool sci-fi-y noises. And the fluoride treatment, which I remember as being so horrible that eventually I convinced my mom to tell the dentist to skip it, consists now of about thirty seconds spent biting down on a piece of styrofoam. Wow! If I had known, I might have gone to the dentist like four years ago or something. *g*

Much to my pleasant surprise, the dentist said that my teeth are basically healthy; but my gums are in danger of gingivitis. I have to go back in two weeks to see whether today's cleaning turned back the tide of bacteria adequately. Note to self: must brush assiduously in next two weeks.

Whew, glad that's over with, yay.

well, my teeth continued to hurt through much of the evening, but are better now, so yay. I'm about to go brush them and hope that goes okay.

It gives me a sort of pleasure that's hard to describe, when the daycare teacher says in amazed/impressed tone that she can't believe how much Isaac talks. :)

Spam subject lines of the day:
1. "Become the man that women desire." Um, no thanks, but can you make me into the woman that women desire?
2. "slick Smith lyricism," except with my real last name instead of Smith. I don't know what that means exactly, but it sounds like something that might get me chicks. ;)

I go bed now, but I leave you with this delightful vision of toddler nudity. ) Because you just can't go wrong with bare baby butt. :)
