I am dumb

I did a dumb thing last night. When Isaac woke up at like 11:30pm, instead of nursing him back to sleep in the chair next to his crib, I took him into bed with me. I was thinking "once he goes back to sleep I'll get up and put him back in the crib," but that was dumb, because I should have known that would never happen. I haven't had him in bed with me all night for many months, and now I remember why. *sigh* He wakes up like every two hours wanting to nurse. He probably spent the better part of the night suckling, and even though I slept through some of it, it still adds up to less sleep for me and for him.

Then at 7:00a.m. he POPPED up wide awake and ready for action. Uurrrrgggghhh. It's work from home day so I'm letting him run rampant around the place while I try to kick-start my brain. Now the only thing to do is try to survive till it's late enough to hand him over to my mom. I may be desperate enough for a nap this afternoon.

I think I better go get some caffeine.

awww. :)

My mom just came to pick Isaac up, and she says, "You know, I was sitting there reading the paper this morning, and suddenly I thought, 'screw this, I wanna see my grandson.'" Aww. :)

Isaac and his gramma have their routines. They usually go out to the main street near her house to watch buses go by, and sometimes they jump on a bus and go for a ride. And often they take the route that goes under a big tunnel (for those who know the area, it's the tunnel between/under Harvard Yard and Sanders Theater), which is Isaac's latest obsession -- tunnels. And he associates these things with gramma, so now whenever I mention her, he immediately says "ride bus?" and "tunnel?"

In fact, this morning when I was talking to gramma on the phone, I put Isaac on, and gramma said, "I'm going to come get you and we'll play," and he said, "ride bus?" He's slowly figuring out what the phone is all about. He used to stare at it in utter confusion ("What is this device that makes noises in gramma's voice?"), but now he'll talk into it, and when he sees me using it, he says "gamma?" and wants to talk, even if I try to explain that it's not gramma on the other end. :)

So now they're off doing their thing and I can hopefully get some work done. But first, gramma brought me fresh bagels and cream cheese, which are calling my name. :)
