Well, my mom did bring Isaac back, a bit earlier than usual because she was tired and in a pissy mood over everything. Ah well. Anyway, after the snow and hail, the weather warmed up and everything started melting. By this morning there wasn't much left to make a difference driving-wise, although there was plenty still piled on my car. Should've brushed it off last night. Eh.

I did decide to stick with the original plan and have Isaac's daycare teacher take him home so I can go to the company party "stag," as it were. So I had to pack up a whole bunch of stuff for her -- toys, books, food. I also stuck his PJs in the bag and hopefully she'll put them on him so if he falls asleep, I can just put his coat on, stick him in the car, and when we get home stick him in the crib. Of course, maybe none of that will happen, but who knows. Anyway, then I wrote a note to daycare saying that she has permission to make off with my child, and I wrote her a whole long note with lots of probably unnecessary details ;) and with my cellphone number and my mom's numbers just in case, and then I had to leave the carseat at daycare for her too.

I'm sure it will all be fine, it was just anxious-making for me because I kept thinking, "eek, I better not forget X!" And then we got in the car and were halfway there and I thought, "wait, did I forget to bring the notes that I spent all that time writing?" But I hadn't forgotten them, so yay. And then Isaac did a huge sneeze that covered the whole bottom half of his face with snot, so I had to pull over on the side of the highway to wipe it. ;) Well, I could have left it, but he would have rubbed it with his arm/sleeve, and eww.

And then I got to work and got into my office and discovered that the plastic bag I was using to carry my stuff had a hole, so I had to retrace my steps back to the car to pick up the stuff that I had dropped. D'oh! It wasn't my morning. *g* On the plus side, more Girl Scout Cookies are in! And my coworker saved me a box of shortbreads because she knows how much I love them. <3

OMG, a post in [livejournal.com profile] customers_suck just reminded me of something that happened a couple weeks ago that I meant to post about and never did.

I was at Whole Foods and it was fairly busy (uh, now that I think of it, it was in fact Dec 23rd, so it was the two-days-before-Xmas rush). I get on the 12-items-or-fewer[sic] line and notice that the woman in front of me has, well, more than 12 items. I mean, not like 50, but definitely at least 15. So I said to her, in what I thought was a fairly friendly non-confrontational tone, "That looks like more than twelve to me."

She goes, "Oh, by all means, go right ahead. Be my guest." While pushing her cart out of the line and heading off toward another line. And I believe as she walked off she shot me a "Merry Christmas" on her way.

I honestly and truly couldn't decide whether she was being sarcastic. I mean, she didn't give me an obviously dirty look and her tone wasn't obviously nasty. But maybe she was and I was just too clueless to pick up on her overly-subtle snark. Or, maybe she was embarrassed at being caught out. I don't know. Anyway, it was interesting. I rarely give a crap about how many items people have (unless it's WAY over the limit), so I don't know what possessed me that time. Afterward I wasn't sure whether I should feel guilty or triumphant. *blush*

Now I wonder if she went home and posted on her blog about the bitch who kicked her out of the express lane. Heh.
