Yikes! The good news is that the alarming noise I heard from my bedroom was just the sound of hail hitting the window, not water pouring out of my waterbed or anything.

The bad news is that the alarming noise was the sound of HAIL hitting the window! eek!

I guess this would be that ice storm they were talking about in the weather forecasts. Dude. I'm just glad for the timing; it's my day to work from home anyway. Whew.

uh-oh

Sigh, my mom just called to say that she accidentally made off with my car keys. When she was here this morning picking Isaac up, she ran out to my car to get his boots, and apparently stuck my keys in her pocket and forgot to give them back. This means that I can't go anywhere, like, to pick Isaac up from her tonight as we had arranged.

Mom is Not Happy. Sigh. She kinda sounded like she was mad at me, which is illogical because it's not my fault she pocketed my keys (okay, it's my fault that the spare car key is in the glove compartment, admittedly a stupid place for it, but still). But I kinda know how she feels; it's that whole realizing you're going to have to do something you REALLY don't want to do and it's your own fault thing. I have SO been there.

venturing out

OK, mom's calmed down, but there's nothing for it except for her to bring Isaac back to me later, as I can't pick him up without access to my car. Oh well.

I was just going to shower and then head out to CVS for a quick errand, but then I realized that would make a lot more sense in reverse. Going out in snow and hail with wet hair wouldn't be the best idea. Unfortunately, my boots are also locked in the car. D'oh!
