I feel like I'm living in a Chinese curse lately. Yeah, you know the one. Times are way too interesting for my taste these days.
Remember how I was going to ask last night's babysitter Sally if she could sit again tonight while I went to the baseball game? It turns out that Sally is, you guessed it, going to the baseball game. To recap: Both my primary babysitters are going to the game tonight. I, as it turns out, am not going to the game. After
anotherjen said that she also could not babysit, and my last-resort friend said the same, I realized it was not meant to be. It's just as well. I'm too tired (and now pissy) to enjoy the game anyway. I sold the ticket to a coworker who was going to give it to her husband who she said was very happy about it, so it's all good.
And I'll probably go to the game next Tuesday. Mom and I were going to sell those tickets, because we figured if we're going Tues this week (today) and Fri next week (the 24th) we don't need to go Tues next week (the 21st). So we were going to give them to my friend M, but now I'll go with M, and my mom will watch Isaac. Hopefully that'll work out okay.
In other "interesting" news, this morning I waaaaay overslept after foolishly turning off my alarm clock (thinking, "I'll get up in a couple of minutes"). So I was already way late when, having gotten us all ready, I was about to pick Isaac up to leave, and then I heard a meowing that sounded like Bini. I couldn't tell where it was coming from, so I went out the front door, and there was Charles (guy who lives upstairs) saying, "is that your cat?" Seems Bini ran in Charles's door when Charles opened it, then realized he was in the wrong apartment and freaked out and ran out again. Charles helped me track Bini down and get him back inside, although I'm still mystified as to how he got out! My best guess is he snuck out when Sally the babysitter was leaving last night.
Anyway, then I finally got into the car, called daycare to tell them we were running late, drove off. Got through most of my commute okay, until it came time to exit the freeway -- there was construction around my exit, lots of traffic cones set up, and it looked like my exit was blocked off so I couldn't use it. Augh! And I have NO idea where the next exit is or how to get from it to where I wanted to go. Luckily just as I was zipping by I noticed that the cones *were* arranged such that I could get onto the offramp, so I swerved onto it in reckless fashion and got us to daycare okay. Whew!!!
And that was just the morning! What excitement might the rest of the day hold in store for me ... I shudder to imagine. Oy.
