behind again, woo
Apr. 18th, 2008 02:10 pmOops, haven't updated for a whole couple of days, eek ;) I've been Twittering (twitter.com) quite a bit.
OK, first of all, the cable got fixed. Note to self: never believe customer-service people when they tell you how fixit people will do things. I foolishly believed the lady on the phone who assured me that the cable guy would call "when he's on his way over," implying that I had plenty of time to take the kids to school. I had dropped off Isaac and was just putting Ruthie back into the car when I got a call -- naturally it was the repairman saying "I'm at your house, where are you?" *facepalm* I jumped in the car and zipped back over there so fast that I forgot to buckle Ruthie in, which gave me quite the coronary when I got home and went to take her out and discovered it. YIKES.
Anyway, all was well and it only took him a few minutes to fix the problem and I got to work only about half an hour after I usually get in.
The other night I made recipe #29 which was a sort of improv based on the "garlic spinach stellini" that I did not long ago -- this time with broccoli instead of spinach. I chopped the broccoli into teeny pieces and sauteed it in some oil with some garlic, then mixed in the cooked stellini (star-shaped noodles) and some lemon juice and parmesan. Both the kids seemed to like it and each ate about half a bowl, which is pretty good for the first time with a new dish. After Isaac had declared himself done, he came back and told me not to put his bowl away because "I might want more later." I replied that there might not BE more later because I might eat it (having already emptied the remainder of his bowl and Ruthie's into mine). So he sat back down and ate another half-bowl. So I think that was a pretty good success and will definitely try that one again, hopefully with whole-wheat noodles next time because I can't bear the white-flour-ness of regular noodles any more. Which is a whole other post, really.
We've been going out in the back yard almost every night after getting home from work/school. The kids are loving it. Isaac always wants to play tag which isn't exactly what I want to do after a day of work, but ah well. ;) He has also been very excited since discovering that he can go in and out through the back door on his own -- so sometimes I'll send him outside and I'll wash dishes (I can see the backyard through the window over the sink) and he'll be in and out a zillion times, each time with an excuse, but really it's that he likes the going in and out. ;) Whatever!
In Ruthie news, just about every single day on her daycare report sheet it says something about how much she loves to sing. They say things like "Ruth is our lead singer at circle time" or "we sang songs, Ruth loved it" or similar. She is definitely a music-lover. You should see the dance she does to the "Dora the Explorer" theme song. Not to mention the dance she does when singing "We Will Rock You"! LOL!
Also, the other day as I was putting her into her carseat she said "fwap [strap] in Oothie!" and I said "yes, we have to strap you in" and she said "Oothie be safe! mama be safe!" :)
OK, that's my update for the moment, more later (I always say that, nu?).
