a new lj feature

Well, it might not be new, but I just discovered it and it's cooooool.

If you create a friend group called "default view", then you will automatically see that group when you go to "www.livejournal.com/users/yourname/friends" (or yourname.livejournal.com/friends if you're a paid user). This is useful if there's someone you want to list as a friend but you don't want to see their entries on your friends page. You can still see your entire group of friends by going to "www.livejournal.com/users/yourname/friends?filter=all" instead.

A point to note about this is that it only works for you. If other people go to your friends page, they'll see everyone. So no one will ever know who you have filtered out in this way. That rules, I must do this right away! One question, the only way that I have found to make a friends group is with my lj client, I can't figure out how to do that from the lj site. Will that make a difference? If so, how should I go about making the "default view" friends list?

I don't think it makes a difference. But on the lj site, how you do it is by clicking the three little dots next to "Friends" on your userinfo page. Then you see "to edit your friend groups, click here."

Oh thank you thank you thank you! My friends list is so pretty and clean now, and I don't have to read the boring people's entries but I also don't have to piss them off. You're the best!

Hee hee! You're welcome, but the credit should go to the lj developers really. I only wish I were cool enough to program new features into livejournal.
