OK, here goes the catching-up attempt....

Everything up to Xmas Day: already posted about here.

Boxing Day: My day off! Massage was awesome. Then took the bus to the mall and spent a few hours trying on pants. Laugh if you want, but trying on pants at leisure is something I never get a chance to do, so it was great. Sears was having a 40%-Off sale on Land's End stuff, so I got two super-soft sweaters and three pairs of jeans for $110. This is awesome. I cannot tell you how great it is to have jeans that actually fit. Then took the bus to pick up Ruthie and drove home; mom dropped Isaac off.

Thursday: Isaac and I hung out together after taking Ruthie to daycare. Fairly low-key day. We took the bus (that's all Isaac needs ;) ) to the mall, wandered around the mall a little bit, went into the pet store to admire the lizards and snakes and fish, took the bus back to Davis Square, had ice cream (in the pouring rain and 35-degree temps!), got Ruthie and bussed home.

Friday: Ruthie again went to daycare, and Isaac and I went to the science museum with his preschool friend L and L's mom. Fun was had although Isaac got cranky early, probably due to not having slept well (note that description of Thursday does not include a nap). Ate a crappy lunch at the museum, went home, napped, bussed to pick up Ruthie.

Saturday: Hung out at grandma's house, low-key day.

Sunday: Went to a birthday party for a friend's son who turned 4. There were a lot of kids and Isaac didn't know any of them except the birthday boy, but he did great anyway. He played really well with the other kids. Party was low-key and fun. Then home, nap, quiet evening at home, bed.

Monday: Went to the home of some kids who used to go to Isaac's preschool but now go to another school. Very chaotic with four 4- and 5-year-olds plus Ruthie in one small apt, but fun was had and no blood shed. Then home, nap, quiet evening at home, bed.

Tuesday: Dropped off Isaac at the aforementioned L's house, went grocery shopping with Ruthie. Then back to L's house, in time to see Isaac take a toy car to the face. Split bottom lip, much blood, much crying, but he was fine after application of ice and a few quiet minutes watching "Bambi." Home, nap, and then grandma came over and we had dinner together and she took Isaac off to her house.

Anyway, that's the bare-bones version because I'll probably never get around to the more detailed version. though you never know.

Last night's dream is mostly lost to the mists of time but I do remember that part of it involved a bunch of my coworkers being in a piano class where basically everyone has a keyboard and they all sit and watch the instructor play and they try to play along. I and one other coworker were standing outside the room where this was taking place, and we looked in the door and saw what was going on and agreed that it seemed horrible, LOL.

Also, over the break I read two books, both of which were advance review copies of not-yet-published books, which I got through LibraryThing.com's Early Reviewers program. One was Dreamers of the Day by Mary Doria Russell (author of The Sparrow) and is a historical novel taking place in 1921 and dealing with the Cairo peace conference involving Winston Churchill and T.E. Lawrence -- told from the point of view of a (fictional) Ohio schoolteacher who is visiting Cairo as part of her process of self-discovery. Sorry for the clunky summary, but it's a great book and you should check it out. Here's a link to my full review on LibraryThing.

The other book was called The Somnambulist by Jonathan Barnes, and was somewhat more disappointing although it definitely had its points. It is a sort of horror/steampunk/pot-boiler, if that means anything to you. Basically a novel taking place during the post-Victorian age involving some elements of the fantastical. If you like China Mieville, you may like this one; it also has some elements that may appeal to the Terry Pratchett/Neil Gaiman fans on my flist, although the overall ethos of the writing is quite different. Here's a link to my review of this one on LibraryThing.

Anyway, those two books bring the total on my "Read in 2007" tag to 34 books, which I think is quite impressive given my, uh, lifestyle, or whatever you'd call it. Go me.
