I have been having a lot of fun with Ruthie's hair, which has gotten so long that it needs to be put up or else it gets all in her eyes. It's so funny how different her hair is from mine and Isaac's -- ours is thick and mostly straight, hers is fine and so curly! It gets so tangled too. I have been using a Johnson&Johnson detangler but I'm not crazy about the whole concept.

Anyway, my inner girly-girl has really been enjoying playing w/Ruthie's hair :) I have to admit I was pretty much just going "gee, her hair is always in her eyes but I can't bring myself to cut it," and then her daycare teachers started putting it up, and I was kind of like, "*facepalm* why didn't I think of that?" LOL, I fail at girly. ;)

Mostly we do her with two pigtails like this -- these are pictures after her daycare people actually did it the first time. I think it is SOOO cute.











Here's a taste of how it looks if we don't do anything to it -- all tangled and fly-away and all over the place!







Ruthie went through a phase of pouting a lot and I would tease her by pouting back and go "waaaaah," which she thinks is hilarious. Now she will fake-pout at me like this to get me to do it back. lol

Uh oh, I think you may have a beautiful teenage girl on your hands in the not too far off future! Yikes!
I love her hair, the curls are so pretty. You know, Caspian looks fantastic with a pony tail, but I feel too guilty doing it because he gets called a girl often enough as it is. I stick with barrettes.

yeah, I tried barrettes on Ruthie but as soon as they're on she goes "off! off!" and fusses until I take them off. Maybe I'll try them again in a while, after she gets used to the feeling of having her hair up.

BTW, for tangles and curly hair, try using a leave-in conditioner instead of a baby or kids detangler. I use Aussie brand and have used it on my friend's 6 year old daughter with similar hair to mine. Just tell Ruthie to shut her eyes while you are spraying it on.

just a girly note: the down in back with the little pony tail on top is called a "half back." Dunno exactly why. It's really nice for sports if you do a half back first and then do a ponytail, as it keeps more of the hair back. Sometimes called a "stacked ponytail." I tried to find pictures and couldn't, but you'll see it if you ever have 60 soccer playing girls all gathered in one location.

So very cute... I can't tell you how jealous I am that you have girly-girl hair to do. I'll never get to do that :( Being one of the most girly-girl lesbians you might ever meet, and I get two sons. Oh the injustice of it all! ;)
