:( I guess I was spoiled by 2004, the parade was on a Saturday. But then again the Series ended on a Wednesday night/Thursday morning. I guess it would be a long wait for them to hang around from now till next Saturday just for a parade. But still... :(
Yeah, I got spoiled, too. My friend from Pennsylvania (who's a VT boy, by birth) flew up, we spent the night in a motel near Braintree and took the T into where the red and green intersect, then went there to await the parade.
I'm sad, but I understand the players' wishes. It has been a long season, going full out, and some time off is well-deserved.
I guess I'm lucky that I work downtown, so the parade will go right near us. And that my boss is an insane Sox fan too, and will be deserting his own job to go down to the parade.
Those type of events often seem to take place in the middle of the day in the middle of the week here. I've heard this is because our city infrastructure has a hard time coping with the quantity of people that would show up if it was at a convenient time, so they make it an inconvenient time on purpose so as to limit the number of people who show up. :P
