Ruthie is 18 months old today. How time does fly!

Ruthie is a joy and a delight, even though the whole sleeping thing is, uh, not. ;) Parenting her is so different from parenting Isaac, which of course is partly because I'm more experienced, but also because she is such a different personality. She amazes me every day. I can't believe how much I love her.

When Ruthie was a little baby she didn't smile or laugh much, and I often thought and said, "she's just not much of a smiler, she's very serious." But that passed. Now she is cheery and laughing and happy most of the time. She loves her life. She loves her mama and her brother and her grandma, and her world -- especially the parts of her world that have dogs or buses in them. ;)

Right now Ruthie has about 15-20 words depending on what counts as a word (e.g. meow, whoa) and she still does a few signs as well. Her favorite foods are cheerios, oatmeal, broccoli, bananas (which she rarely gets due to the constipation issues) and goldfish crackers. She carries a teddy bear around almost everywhere, and she freaks out if her shoe comes off or if she gets some food/liquid on her hands. She likes to dance to music, and if you say a food is hot she makes blowing noises, and if you say anything is done or ready she says "ding!" (the noise the toaster makes when it's done), and if you say "time to go!" she goes "YAY!!" and races for the door.

Eighteen short months. What an adventure!

And no milestone-age update post would be complete without picspam!

Isaac likes to play this game that involves throwing the couch pillows on the floor, and Ruthie's contribution is to lie on the pillows and pretend to sleep.

Here she is on a recent day when I was clearing out/sorting a bunch of clothes, and Ruthie insisted that I put on several items onto her. So we have: random pajama pants; random sweater of Isaac's; and random too-small hat that she found and put on herself....
