mamajoan: me in hammock (d'oh!)

not much posting from me lately...busy at work and such.

Had a nice lunch yesterday with [livejournal.com profile] lbmango who was visiting from out of town for a job interview (and he got offered the job so perhaps we shall be having lunch again soon!). [livejournal.com profile] whuffle also joined us, so it was a delightful mini-Oberlin-reunion.

Today I am feeling like an incompetent mom because a) I realized that Isaac's 4-year checkup was scheduled for tomorrow and b) it was scheduled at 1:30 which is an absolutely terrible time for us, right in the middle of the day (and the middle of naptime at preschool -- NOT the time you want to be hauling your kid out of school to go get shots). I don't know wtf I was thinking when I made that appointment. Well, yes I do; I was thinking "oh, August is months away, can't think about that now." And of course c) when I called to change the appointment, they had no openings until November. But many fellow parents reassured me that it's okay to not have the 4-year checkup until almost 4 and a half. The shots he'll get at that checkup are basically just "the shots he needs to have before he starts kindergarten," not "the shots he MUST have as soon as he turns 4."

And then d) while I was making his appt for November, I asked the lady whether I could also schedule Ruthie's 18-month checkup for the same day to get it all over with, and she said yes, and then all of a sudden it occurred to me to ask, uh, was she supposed to have a 15-month checkup? And she said yes again. *facepalm* For the record, Ruthie is 16.5 months now. There are shots at the 15-month checkup but not at the 18 so I asked the lady on the phone whether it would be okay to just skip the 15 and have those shots at the 18, and she said she would check with the doctor and call me back.

Siiiiigh. It's not like keeping track of two kids' well visits needs to be all that complicated, dammit. I suck.

in other news, there is a bit of other news (nothing earth-shattering) but I gotta get back to work, so, later.

I'm pretty sure all those shots have minimums for time-between-shots, not often maxima.
