nuttiness in a shell
Apr. 30th, 2007 06:44 pmOK, so on Saturday we hung out with Isaac's new(ish) school friend, Lucas, and his mom, whom soon I may refer to as my new mom friend. ;) It was super fun and awesome.
Then on Sunday, I got hit by the latest gastrointestinal bug going around, and spend most of the day lying on the couch in a nauseated haze. Fortunately the ever-wonderful
sandykidd and
metafrantic came to my rescue, along with upstairs neighbor Brian. They all spent several hours entertaining the kids while I tried to recuperate. By evening I felt much better, albeit weak from not having eaten all day and having to keep up with Ruthie's apparently insatiable demand for nursie.
Overnight Ruthie was really scaring me with the rapid breathing thing again, but after an albuterol treatment this morning she seems to have gotten better. I talked to the doctor and she spaketh the dread A-word (asthma) but I'm not thinking about that right now. LALALALACAN'THEARYOULALALALA.
Today my stomach was still feeling wonky so I stuck to saltines and rice, despite being simultaneously ravenous. This breastfeeding thing sure can mess up the body's signals. Just before leaving the office I succumbed to the siren song of the fruit-and-cheese platter that had been brought in for a meeting -- had several blackberries and several strawberries and one, ONE piece of cheese -- and now I'm getting unpleasant tummy-rumblings again, so I guess that wasn't the best idea. My sources tell me that this particular bug leaves the tummy feeling iffy for quite a few days afterward, so I guess it's rice and bananas and saltines for me for a while yet. Siiiiiiigh.
(also I didn't do the grocery shopping that was on the agenda for Sunday, on account of the whole sitting-around-all-day-feeling-like-crap thang, so we have very little food in the house. bleah.)
Just to end the post on a similar but somewhat more upbeat note ;) here's a funny but TMIish Isaacism from a few minutes ago:
(Isaac was making the face that he makes when he's pooping in his diaper)
Me: What are you doing?
Isaac: I'm just hanging around.
Me: Are you pooping?
Isaac: I'm just hanging around and pooping.
Me: I see. You're hanging around and pooping and standing on your puzzle.
Isaac: (looking down at his feet) Oh. (moves off the puzzle) Mama, I'm just going to go hang out and poop in the kitchen.
heh, I'll be paying for the therapy for that one some day. ;)

Date: 2007-05-01 05:45 pm (UTC)He was on Flovent for a while, but when he hit 7, he switched him to Pulmicort. He uses the albuterol only very rarely now, but viruses and sometimes exercise are triggers for him.
