We had a good weekend. Saturday we went to the preschool fair, learned about the options, later met up with [livejournal.com profile] ww1614 and her clan for a nice dinner. Sunday, small and very informal birthday party for Ruthie, which was lovely. Many adorable pictures and videos were taken. Ruthie scored some good loot, including a few great pieces of girly clothing which her wardrobe in her current size is sadly lacking. I feel guilty about being so focused on the girly, but darnit, I like my daughter to look like a girl at least some of the time. So sue me. Ah well.

The serendipity part goes like this: [livejournal.com profile] sandykidd's job satisfaction level has been steadily declining. This is unfortunate. I have been unable to find suitable daycare arrangements for Ruthie. This is also unfortunate. Some "last straw"-type stuff occurred at SK's ofice last week, so she has decided to quit her job and stay home and raise Baz. And I'll be paying her to watch Ruthie as well. Woohoo! Everyone wins! Well, except for SK's employers, but who cares about them ;)

Seriously, I'm very excited about this and I think it's going to be awesome. The cousins will get to grow up together, and it'll solve almost all the childcare problems I've been having, and I'll be happier knowing that Ruthie is with someone I can really trust, not a stranger. Plus, As SK said, it'll be nonstop photo ops :) Ruthie and Baz are so funny together. It's great.

OK, back to all-day meetings....

Hey, this is excellent. A nanny you know you can trust. ;-) Well, I don't really think it's called a nanny if it's family, but there's a whole lot that sounds good about this arrangement, even though I daresay various glitches will come up in the future.

Wicked cool daycare arrangement. Makes me miss my sisters... but I'm glad for you and for Ruthie and Baz. Works out great for everyone!

I know from the whole financial planner thing that it was daycare breaking your bank; to have a family member as trusted provider (who I am assuming doesn't charge what daycare for 2 would run) should help in so many ways.

congrats!
