the letter meme
Mar. 19th, 2007 07:18 pmAfter seeing it all over my flist, I have finally succumbed to the letter meme.
hopemcg gave me L. So here are ten things I love that begin with L:
1. Laughter. After about 11 months of not really being much of a giggler, Ruthie has started laughing a lot more in recent weeks. There's nothing better than baby giggles. Often when we're in the car, Isaac will look over at her and give a big hearty half-fake laugh, just to make her laugh. So she laughs, and that makes him laugh, and that makes her laugh...and that all makes ME just crack up. It's awesome. :)
(I have several mp3s on my website of Isaac laughing as a baby (here, here, here, here), but none of Ruthie...yet!)
2. Lactation. With apologies to those of who have had difficulties related to breastfeeding...but I've been fortunate in that area. As you probably know I breastfed Isaac until he was almost 2½, and I hope to go longer with Ruthie. It really has been one of the great joys of my life.
3. Lilac, my favorite flower. I love the way it smells. The next-door neighbors have a HUGE lilac bush in their front yard. :)
4. Lois McMaster Bujold, one of my favorite authors. I don't have much time for reading these days, so I'm only about 25 pages into The Hallowed Hunt, but it's nice to know I have some Bujoldian goodness here whenever I get the time for it.
5. Language. I first took the nickname "Joan the English Chick" in college because I was majoring in English (lit), and although it seems a bit silly now (and causes much confusion over my nationality), it's still apropos in many ways. I still have my grammar website (as well as that bachelor's degree, of course, heh) to prove my language-loving credentials.
6. Letters, i.e. snailmail. I rarely get much of it anymore, aside from bills and junk, but when I do get some real snailmail, it makes me so happy. :)
7. Lucy Lawless -- okay, I'm reaching now ;) but I still do love the woman, even if her appearance on that awful "So you think you can sing" show was just painful.
8. Laziness -- something I so rarely get the chance to participate in these days, alas.
9. Lesbians, hee hee, nuff said? ;)
10. Leftovers -- LOL, well, I felt like there ought to be at least one food-related item on the list and this was the best I could come up with. But I do love leftovers. I especially love that you can order takeout one time and get at least 2 or 3 meals out of it. :)
