ides of march
Mar. 15th, 2007 11:29 amSo, the past couple days have been gorgeous: temps in the 50s and 60s F, birds singing, gentle breezes. Yesterday people were wearing shorts and I felt like an idiot in my heavy winter coat, heh.
But today it's rainy, and supposed to drop into the low 40s by midafternoon, and tomorrow? Which would be my birthday? Snow. That's right, people. You fell into complacency, didn't you?! You felt the warm weather and heard the birds and thought, "woohoo, spring!" But now this bitch we call March is opening her mouth to bite you in the 'nads once more. I'd think about a tetanus booster if I were you.
Personally, I expected it. I was walking back to my car at the end of the workday yesterday, sweltering in my winter coat, looking at all the kids in their capris (Harvard Yard srsly makes me feel a thousand years old), squishing in the mud created by all that ice melting, and I couldn't enjoy it. I just kept thinking, "Dude, this is March. It can't last." And I was right.
Snow on my birthday isn't the biggie. It's snow on a Friday that really irritates. Grump, whine, moan. Oh well. C'est la vie. Happy March.
In other news, yesterday we met the male babysitter at last, and he was not (apparently) an axe murderer, but I was unimpressed with him overall. Ah well, keep looking. Thanks
metafrantic for coming over just in case.
Baskin-Robbins sent me a coupon for a free scoop of ice cream for my birthday. I have a feeling I'm going to need it. Maybe I'll use it today, in case the snow tomorrow is heavy enough to make me not want to go out at lunchtime.
