My whopping tax refund got direct-deposited yesterday (yay) and I'm giving serious consideration to the idea of a Mac Mini. It's so CUTE! And it looks like I'd be able to use my current monitor and mouse and printer. Possibly also my scanner. I'm just still pondering whether I really want to make the leap back into MacWorld (I was a Machead for many years before coming over to the Dark Side).

Anyway, a trip to the Apple Store may be in my near future.

Ruthie woke us all up at 6:30 this morning. *facepalm* Isaac came in, and while we were lying groggily on the bed, he said with great surprise, "Mama, while we already woke up, the first number [on the digital clock] is still a six!!" Yeah, don't remind me. Groan.

In other news, I stand in awe of [livejournal.com profile] thedivinegoat who told me yesterday on IM that she regularly nurses her 9-month-old twins while surfing the 'net. What a woman! *worships*

It is cute, but I have to be the Voice of Reason: do you actually need a new computer? Seems like you need organizing/cleaning and to pay back your mom and other stuff more. On the other hand, if you do go that route, then can I have your old PC, or buy it for cheap, for Ilana?

Well, as I wrote in an entry that you may have missed while you were traveling, I decided I could justify a new computer based on financial considerations (my tax refund plus some money I got from my mom) plus the fact that my current one is old and on its last legs. In the past I've waited for some catastrophic event (e.g., computer suddenly refuses to boot up, hard drive dies, etc.) before I upgraded, but I'd rather not do that this time. I'd rather get a new machine all up and running while the old one is still functional.

Given the vagaries of my current work situation, I'm definitely going to keep the old machine around, particularly if I do get a Mac. I can use it for backup, and for Windows stuff if needed for work, and for learning new skills. In particular, at some point I'd like to try to get Linux onto it, for resume fodder as well as my own personal interest. That's not something I'm going to do if it's my only computer.

Ah, okay! Yes, I think I must have missed that post.

Now that you're working (which is great, btw!!), if you want me to come by and organize for you, I'm guessing it'll have to be on a weekend, and because of the kid schedule, social plans, and other organizing sessions already planned, my next weekend days available for organizing are March 24/25. (March 24 after the Billy Jonas concert, that is.) So let me know.

I also want to remind you that I am offering existing clients a free half-hour of organizing for every new client you refer to me. If you want a few of my business cards, let me know.

6:30 is sleeping in at our house. No wonder I'm perennially grousy.

Consider using the refurbished macs under warantee in the apple online store. [livejournal.com profile] halleyscomet and I did this to replace his computer (and buy him his very first mac) and he's been happy with the experience. It also cost a good deal less.
