What IS it with people??

mamajoanLately it seems like we spend half our lives waiting around for people who make appointments and then neither show up nor call.
This is particularly bad when Isaac is here, because I keep telling him we can't do anything (games, etc.) that'll take too long, because someone is going to be here soon and we'll be interrupted. So he keeps asking "what can we do?" and I keep putting him off and it makes me feel like a neglectful mama.
Plus, I think he's starting to think that these people are all in my head. I'll be the mama who cried wolf.
Update: This evening's person called and had a good excuse and was appropriately mortified, so she's off the hook. But she rescheduled for tomorrow when Isaac will be in preschool, so he'll still never believe me.
