that was unexpected
Nov. 14th, 2006 03:30 pmIn my last entry, you found me about to flee the premises because a crew had started jackhammering the sidewalk right across the street from my house. Ruthie and I headed out to do some grocery shopping, and not a minute too soon, because they were breaking up the sidewalk right next to where my car was parked, and just as I stepped out of my house my car alarm went off. (My car alarm goes off at the drop of a hat.) So I turned it off and they stopped jackhammering long enough for me to put Ruthie in the car and drive away.
We get back an hour or so later to find...a tree. They planted a new little tree right there. Who would have guessed?
Hard to explain why I find this so amusing and poignant, but there it is.
