Isaac's new preschool seems to be working out really well. Granted today is only his third day, but still. He does really well at dropoff -- clings to me briefly but is easily engaged in play. And at pickup he's totally cheery to see me, not in a "get me the hell outta here!" way but in a general sort of "I am in a good mood" way. If I ask him, "did you have fun today?" he'll say no, but he's just blowing smoke. ;) (Yesterday we went to my mom's place after pickup and she asked him the same question and he said "yes" very enthusiastically.)

I'm feeling extremely positive about the whole thing overall. I love the way that, when we arrive, everyone -- teachers and kids -- says "Good morning!" and several of the kids come running over to say hi. (On the day we were visiting, I saw another mom dropping off her kid and several other kids came over not just to greet the kid, but also to greet the mom -- by name! -- and give her hugs. I thought that was so cute.) All the kids seem very friendly toward me and Isaac. The parents have been friendly too, introducing themselves and asking questions about Isaac and Ruth and commenting on how well Isaac seems to have adjusted. And I love that it's so near our home (we could literally walk there, except that it has been raining all three days thus far), and that it has such a nice mix of kids, gender-wise and age-wise (they range from just under 3 to over 5) and ethnically.

I can also already tell that some separation on a daily, full-day basis is going to be really good for both Isaac and me. These past few months have just been waaaaay too much togetherness for us, and he's really going to benefit from being with dedicated teachers and a nice group of his peers. And as for me, I'm feeling calmer already. ;) Of course, it may turn out to be a huge pain in the ass once I get a new job, but for now it's great. :)

Speaking of which, my job interview is tomorrow. I got a nice jacket/blazer at the clothing swap this past weekend, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] anotherjen, but I don't have any pants that go well with it, so I'm not sure I'll wear it. I do have a skirt that goes okay but it's a long "broomstick" type skirt, not a suit-type skirt, so I worry it might be too informal. But maybe the jacket makes it okay? Hmm.

In other news, I signed Ruthie up to be a test subject; Children's Hospital is doing a study on how 8-month-old babies' brains work. So we're going in next week to have Ruthie look at some computer images with a special brain-wave-detecting hat on. That should be interesting. Ruthie definitely has a lot of brain activity going on. ;)

Which reminds me that I never posted these pictures. They're from the other day when we introduced Ruthie to the joys of spaghetti. :)

She really liked it. Almost as much as she likes Cheerios. Have I mentioned how much this girl loooooves Cheerios? She gets so excited when I put a few in front of her. :)

ok, that's enough blather for now.

oh my, spaghetti looks like fun. I don't think we've had
spaghetti with Kata yet, come to think of it.

I may have some pants you could wear for your interview, depending on what size you are wearing and the color of your jacket - I have a pair that are brown and black tweed, and a pair that are black with little white and teal pinstipes.
Both of them are size 16 petite with some kind of clever elastic waist, and I apologize in advance if I am way off on my thinking that they might have a chance of fitting you. They were pretty flexible on fit with me for a range of sizes on the early end of pregnancy to a while postpartum. (I'll be checking lj a bunch while I have a sleeping Kata on my lap, right now, and when she wakes up I could bring them by
if you wanted to give them a try.)

(and otherwise, knock their socks off at the interview!)

Thanks! The brown and black might work -- I'd have to see them next to the jacket because it's kind of a weird color. Sort of brownish with a green tinge. I don't know how to describe it.

and yes, that's about the right size for me.

We'll be home pretty much all evening with the exception of a brief jaunt around 5:30 to pick up Isaac from preschool.
