so much for that
Oct. 19th, 2006 11:55 amThis morning I was supposed to write a cheery entry all about the really good day we had yesterday. I was going to write it last night, but decided to leave it for today instead.
And then we had the Night from Hell, sigh. Ruthie woke up literally every hour throughout the night. I'm not really sure what was going on with her, except that she was super-congested and having a bit of trouble breathing. Among other things that made it hard for her to nurse, and she spent a lot of time turning her head back and forth toward the boob -- hard to describe really, but it was like she wanted to nurse but every time she started to try it she remembered that she couldn't breathe so she changed her mind. Or something. Anyway, it was frustrating and now I'm totally exhausted and don't think I have energy for all the things I had optimistically planned to do with my few hours of kid-free time today. sigh. wah.
Oh, and then when we got up this morning her face was crusted with snot and she cried when I washed it off. But then she was TOTALLY cheery, ridiculously unlike a baby who got basically no sleep last night. I wish I were totally cheery.
Also, allergies are totally kicking my ass today. I am four dwarves right now: Sleepy, Dopey, Grumpy, and Sneezy. I'm wondering whether maybe Ruthie is having some allergy issues too and that might explain her runny-noseness and all that sort of thing. I can't decide whether I would prefer it to be that, or a cold.
Yesterday was notable for the following: a. When I dropped off Isaac at Cori's house for the morning, Cori's mom the chiropractor gave me an adjustment and spent the entire time telling me what a great kid Isaac is.
b. Then when I told her secretary that I'd bring my checkbook by later, the dr said "oh, today was on the house, because I just wanted to talk about your fantastic little guy." :D
c. also I found out that their "hardship plan" will allow me to pay just $25 per adjustment while I'm in financial difficulties. yay.
d. Then Ruthie and I went to a meeting of the Boston Babywearers group, where we met some nice moms and cute babies, helped some new moms learn more about using their slings/pouches/wraps, and learned a few tips for ourselves as well.
e. Then we had a good nap.
f. In the evening my mom came over with fresh bagels.
Also, the other day I got a check for $750 for something that I posted about here a while back under friends-lock and heavy filter. So if you don't remember reading about it, don't worry about it. Suffice it to say, it was a thing I did ages ago and am finally getting paid for it and am quite happy about that. And there's more to come, which is also really nice to know.
So today I went and paid off about half of the balance on my credit card. And after the $750 hits my bank account I'll probably pay off the rest of the credit card. I don't like carrying a credit-card balance, so I'll be happy to have that gone, especially if I can do it without borrowing from mom again.
In related news, some of you have been incredibly generous toward me recently, and I really really enormously appreciate it. And for those of you (in particular
queenalia, and other reader who doesn't have an LJ so I can't give your username but you know who you are) who have not yet received a private email of thanks from me, it's just because I haven't yet been able to figure out how to say how grateful I am. But I am. So thank you.
