Splat is a sound with which I have gotten all too familiar. It's the sound of spit-up hitting the hardwood floors. Spit-up, of course, is a delightful concoction made up of my breastmilk combined with Ruthie's saliva and stomach fluids. Lovely.

Anyway, splat is a good sound in some ways, because it means that the spitup hasn't hit me. ;) Still, an unexpected splat -- which happens all too often, especially when I'm holding Ruthie over my shoulder or otherwise in a position that has her face turned away from me -- can be unpleasant. And let's not even talk about the stealth splat, which is so quiet that you don't even fully realize it was a splat until you walk away. Heaven forbit you're barefoot... ;)

Yesterday I was standing next to the desk holding Ruthie, and I saw the spit-up coming, and moved her away JUST in time to prevent it going all over my computer keyboard. It caught a bit of the corner (ctrl-shift-capslock) but wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been. Woo.

Ruthie spits up a LOT less than she did even a month or two ago. She is certainly past the age where "they say" spitting up decreases dramatically. I'm definitely ready for it to be completely over. And aren't you glad I haven't been blogging about it all along? ;)

Logan still spits up all the time too. A lot. I was hoping it would decrease more than it has. I guess it is much better, but it is realtive since it used to be CONSTANT. And Don just stepped in it barefoot yesterday! Too funny, well, because it wasn't me. :-) Here's hoping to spit up free days soon!

MY oldest was a "splat kid" till somewhere between 9 and 12 months (remember this was 23 years ago so my memory is not so good, hee hee.)

I remember a milk and baby carrots "splat" that happened at the mall when I was shopping with my sister...nothing in hand to deal with it (because I had already used up ALL the spit rags I had brought) I did what I NEVER do...looked at my sis, turned the around stroller quickly, and we quickly strolled off in the other direction!
