So
munoz said that I should write a song; presumably he means the country song of my life, as alluded to in my previous entry. I'm not writing it, mind you, but if I did, it would probably be entitled "You Can Cut Me Up And Lay Me Off, But You Can't Get Me Down." Or something like that. (It's almost as good as "Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavor On The Bedpost Overnight?" which is what I currently have stuck in my head, argh.)
Funny, just yesterday someone else was telling me I should write a book too. I don't know where you people are getting the idea that I have any time free for frivolous stuff like writing. Or if I do, I've been expending it all on writing journal entries here -- for which I know you're all oh so grateful, har har.
Right now Isaac is with Cori (new nanny-type person I mentioned previously) and Ruthie is with grandma, so I have a couple hours to myself. So far what have I done with it? Let's see, I listed a couple books on half.com, folded some clean laundry, put in another load, and made the bed. The latter was a pretty big project considering how much random stuff I tend to just pile on the bed. Now it's all nice and clean and tidy, just waiting for Isaac to come home and jump all over it and make it a mess again. Whee!
I feel like that's enough actual accomplishing of stuff for now, and I should just fritter away the rest of my kid-free time, precious as it is. But the kitchen is also badly in need of some attention. I made quite a mess yesterday making mac-n-cheese from scratch (which Isaac refused to even try, silly boy). Shredding the cheese in my new food processor was a good idea in theory, but in practice, it turned out to be WAY messier than it was worth. From now on I'll just grate it by hand, much like great-great-great-grandma must have done. ;)
But anyway, before I go clean up the disaster area that is the kitchen counter, here are some new adorable pictures.
The other day I realized I had unintentionally dressed both kids the same (jeans and red shirts) so I plopped them on the changing table for some pix. Poor Ruthie was totally exhausted, as you can tell from her "straining to keep my eyes open" expression.

It's kind of amazing how, in basically a week and a half, Ruthie has gone from not being able to sit up at all, to sitting up unassisted with almost no trouble. She does still occasionally topple over, but she can now sit and play with toys for quite a few minutes all by herself. It's awesome.

For comparison purposes, here's Isaac at ~8 months, wearing the same shirt. I love this shirt, especially since I think red is such a good color on my kids with their dark coloring.
