three good things
Sep. 23rd, 2006 08:53 amJust so that it's not total unrelenting gloom around here, three good things: one for each member of my nookyaler family.
Me: I got an unemployment check yesterday! YAY. This must mean they approved my claim. It says it's for the week ending 9/16, and I'm pretty sure I should be eligible for the previous week as well, so I'm just crossing my fingers that that check got hung up in the mail. Maybe it will arrive today. Anyway, YAY.
Isaac: Is the most tolerant and good-natured kid ever. I am not deserving of him. Also, lately he has started doing little things like coming over to me and giving me a hug or kiss, or laying his hand on my cheek, etc. I must admit that other moms always post about their kids spontaneously kissing them from the age of, like, three months, and I've always secretly been a little jealous that my boy wasn't "that kind of kid." Maybe he just wasn't ready? He may become a cuddler yet!
Ruth: Is the best and cutest baby ever. The corny phrase "light of my life" comes to mind. Sometimes when she smiles at me I think maybe everything really is worth it. You know, I can remember looking at Isaac around this age and thinking that he was incredibly cute and I adored him, but I can't remember having this same intensity of feeling that I have with Ruthie. Every little expression on her face, every little noise she makes, every gesture is just perfect to me. I just love her so much. It's bittersweet because in the midst of enjoying each gorgeous smile I'm sad thinking that I'll never get to experience these baby moments again; but mostly I'm just enjoying it and holding on to those feelings. Getting to have these moments with Ruthie is definitely the blessing-in-disguise of my current "employment situation."
ok, enough schmaltz, time for breakfast.
