I haven't mentioned, but I got a paying gig. It's small for now, more to keep me active than anything else. Basically, I'm blogging about news at a group blog called Blogger News Network. It's paying a small amount, currently as an experiment; if it takes off, the guy running it might start paying more. (And yes, I know the guy, so I have some faith that he's for real.)

The site has a conservative slant, so I'm a little nervous, but am trying to keep my posts on neutral ground, or at least not screamingly radical liberal. ;)

Anyway, so far I've only done two posts -- one on the death of Ann Richards and one on childhood obesity. We'll see how it goes.

I particularly liked the obesity article. I don't have anything more profound to say about it than that, but I certainly agree with you.

tried to comment on the article there, but it will only let you if you have a blogger account.

so here's what i would have said:

Hm. Yesterday, I thought to myself "my toddler spends so much time cooped up in the stroller. He's been really good about stopping when i tell him to and we're going in a direction he wants to go in (so I don't have to compel him to go in the correct direction) i'll give him some exercise and let him out."

Two minutes later, as I was sprinting after my child and dragging him out of the street as a bus passed, I decided out of shape was better than flat.

I used a leash once my child outgrew the sling/no longer wanted to be slung. It was only necessary during the short period where she would actively try to get away from me, and as much as people go "augh! a leash!" she actually loved the leash and would regularly pull it out of my backpack and ask to have it put on.

But, a leash let her walk and kept her safe. I'm all for them.

yeah. tried that. worked twice, then he started screaming. sigh.

that was a while ago, though. maybe we could try it again... (i'm sure this is just a testing boundaries phase. i hope he lives to grow through it...)

They both look good! I hope this can become something more for you soon. Does he track how many times the article is looked at? Maybe you should post when you write something so we can click it for you?
