I spoke too soon yesterday when I posted that the Benadryl wasn't doing anything. Shortly after I wrote that post, Ruthie conked out hard -- she was in my lap playing, then fussing, then she just put her head down on my arm and fell asleep. Very atypical! I didn't think the Benadryl could have gotten into my milk that quickly, but it sure seems like it did. And after I put her down I realized that I too was extremely sleepy. The stupid Benadryl made me feel like a groggy zombie for a couple of hours, making it impossible to get much of anything done. Sigh.
I'm definitely going to try some Claritin next. It's supposed to be non-drowsy-making and safe for breastfeeding.
In other news, I got mail from the unemployment office saying that the amount I'm eligible for is $560 per week. Then I got mail from them saying that I'm disqualified for the first two weeks I was unemployed, because I got two weeks' worth of pay as severance. I had feared that would happen, so it wasn't much of a surprise, but it was still unpleasant. Annoyingly, the letter informing me of this was vague on the question of whether I have to file a new claim for the following weeks. It goes on and on and on about how to appeal the decision -- which I don't intend to do because what's the point -- but doesn't really tell me what to do next if I don't want to appeal the decision but do want to start getting unemployment after the disqualification period (which ended 9/2). So I called this morning, and of course once again the system told me to call back on Thursday. ARGH.
And the woman at the food stamp office still has not called me back; and her voicemail box is full again, so I can't leave her a message. ARGH.
At least I did accomplish one thing yesterday: turning in my application for the city program that helps you replace your heating system. The woman said that hopefully as early as next Monday or Tuesday they'll have an inspector come to look at it and determine what needs to be done. The weather has taken a definite turn for the autumnal, so I gotta get that done soon.
Ruthie is into this whole not napping during the day thing. It's uh, unfortunate.
