movin' on up
May. 11th, 2006 12:42 pmYesterday I took a package of size-1 diapers, which I bought last week, back to the store and exchanged them for size 2. (And got $2 back because now they're on sale -- score!) It seems crazy, since it feels like just a few days ago that I moved Ruthie from newborn to size 1; yet, the 1s are definitely too small now. I seem to recall this happening with Isaac too. He whipped right through the first few sizes and then was in size 4 for ages, IIRC.
I've been using Huggies mostly since that's what I use with Isaac, but I thought I''d give Pampers a try with Ruth just to see if they fit her better. So far I like them fine except that they have a really strong baby-powder smell, which I hate. I mean, I like the scent but it's way too strong and anyway I prefer things to be unscented as a general rule. Especially since the package doesn't say anything about scent, which if you ask me is deceptive marketing. :P What, they don't think my baby smells good enough on her own?? The nerve!!!!
Ruthie is getting bigger and more alert all the time. She is really starting to focus on things, like faces -- we've had some good "conversations" -- and to enjoy looking at toys. I gotta rig some kind of mobile above the changing table.
I'd love to type more about what Ruthie is up to, but she's asleep on me at the moment and this is as much one-handed typing as I can stand at one time. More later.

Date: 2006-05-11 06:39 pm (UTC)time I saw you, and it appears that now I am too late. (It is open, and from the inside of a giant box with multiple inner bags, so no returns for us...)
Time to find another baby who isn't growing like a weed. ;)

Date: 2006-05-12 12:28 pm (UTC)that, right? So then maybe I can just bring her the extra diapers along with
some clothes that I'm *not* going to be too slow on that should still fit Ruth, and she will see you again to give you the diapers?
(These diapers, FWIW, were labeled "1-2" on the box, but the diaper says "1"
and we couldn't tell the difference from the regular huggies 1's. And we
still fit into the regular huggies 2's. whatever.)

Date: 2006-05-11 07:50 pm (UTC)I agree with you about unscented diapers...can't stand the faux baby smell that seems to accompany so many baby items. Ugggh. Even the smell of baby powder, if there's too much of it (for example, when A decides to administer it himself, "Want a sprinkle on my penis, Ima") just about gags me.
