If you haven't already, you definitely must check out this hilarious example of copy-paste gone wrong. Hee hee.

In other news-related news, see if you can spot what's wrong with this article from Boston.com about how a 2-year-old girl mistakenly received a summons for jury duty. I've added some bolding to make the error more obvious:

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. --Kaylee Reynolds had a problem when she recently received a summons to serve on a Taunton District Court jury.

She wasn't old enough to read it.

The 2-year-old has quite a few years to go before she reaches the minimum age of 18 to serve on a state jury. Lucky for Kaylee, Massachusetts Jury Commissioner Patricia Reynolds seemed willing to let it slide for a while.

"We'll give her a 16-year grace period," Wood told The Standard-Times of New Bedford.

Wood guessed the mix-up could be traced to a local census form. If the form has a blank or mistaken birth date, July 4, 1776 is filled in.

"With that date we'll know it is wrong," Wood said.

Besides her questionable understanding of the concepts of guilt or innocence, there are other reasons why it's best to wait for Kaylee to serve. Her mother, Patricia, says Kaylee gets really cranky if she doesn't get her noontime nap.

Yep, another example of poor or nonexistent editing. For the record, the Jury Commissioner of Massachusetts is in fact named Pamela (not Patricia) Wood.

You know, when I see stuff like that, it makes me wonder why I can't get a job as a newspaper editor. Well, I mean, aside from the fact that I never apply for newspaper editor jobs. But that's just a little niggly detail, innit?

*snickers*

Typos like that amuse me. In mass quantities, I suppose they rather irritate me, but... it's fun to look for them! :-D

I once mentioned to a publisher that a certain book had an insane amount of typos, and ended up getting the following book in the series offerred to me for free! A recent book that I've been reading has some really annoying typos - on one page, the character has been shot in the right shoulder, and four pages later she's bleeding from the left... o.O Publisher hasn't gotten back to me on that one, yet.

It makes me wonder why I can't get a job as an editor when I have actually applied for editing jobs.

I read a book recently that referred to the Sword of Damocles -- except the author referred to it as the Sword of Damascus.
