good deeds
Jan. 12th, 2006 12:31 pmLast night I came home to a message on my machine confirming "Pavel's" appointment next Monday with some doctor I never heard of. This morning I called and told them there is no Pavel at this number. The girl on the phone sounded very surprised that I bothered to let them know they had a wrong number. I imagine that doesn't happen very often. Hopefully "Pavel" will come to his appointment without having been reminded, and will tell them his actual phone number.
In other news, yesterday at work I was quite surprised when the receptionist brought me a package. I never get packages at work. It turned out to be from a former coworker who moved away about six months ago. Last summer he had loaned me his digital camcorder, and when he moved, I gave him the Mini-DV tape I had used, because I had no way of playing it. He promised to burn it to a DVD for me, and now he finally did! So now I have a DVD of random scenes of me and Isaac goofing around, plus us and my mom and brother and SIL and Brian at the cottage last summer. Some of the scenes are pretty freaking hilarious. :) Just me and Isaac and everyone being silly, typical stuff. It was a lot of fun to watch. I have to see if I can figure out how to get some of the scenes off the DVD and onto my computer so I can upload them for y'all to enjoy.
It really struck me from the videos how far Isaac has come in his language skills in just these last 6-8 months! On the video he's still saying things like "Isaac chair" and "mama song" whereas now he would say "This is Isaac's chair" or "Mama please sing a song." At one point on the DVD I ask him what he did today with gramma and he says "uppa bidge gamma" and then "noisy train," whereas now he would say, "I went up the bridge with Gramma and we saw a noisy train!" It was neat to see that, concrete evidence of how far he has come.
And it really made me go, "damn, I have GOT to get a camcorder!" Last night I was telling my mom and brother and SIL about the DVD, and spontaneously they all pretty much said the same thing. ;) Maybe we can all pool our money and buy one....
