For this morning's smoothie I used maple yogurt, chocolate soymilk, and frozen strawberries. It was good. Isaac refused to try it, insisting instead on strawberry yogurt, despite me telling him that it was basically the same thing, heh. Ah well. I was still pretty hungry when I got to work, though, so I still think my smoothies need something more to make them more filling. Not sure what that would be though. Maybe wheat germ. I just wish they sold it in smaller boxes.

Consider adding a spoonful or two of brewer's yeast. Its good for you and filling!

okay, do you have to go to someplace like Whole Foods to get it? 'Cause they didn't have it at the regular supermarket I went to this afternoon.

Yeah, you can get it at WholeFoods or at most vitamin shops. I personally find that it adds a slightly "wheaty" taste to the shake, but my husband thinks it still tastes just fine.

Wheat germ can be frozen so that the big box will maybe be less of a hassle. Also, i stongly recommend protein powder for the smoothies. I've found that Genisoy is the tastiest, and doesn't have nasty fake sweetener in it.

Do I really need protein when I'm already using yogurt and soymilk? Or is the protein powder more for bulk/substance than protein per se?

I tried to buy some wheat germ at the store today but I didn't know whether I was supposed to get toasted or untoasted. So I didn't buy it. I did notice though that they have it in plastic jars, which would make me feel better about buying a large container (presumably it would keep longer).

You still need to keep it in the fridge, or the pils go rancid pretty quickly. Toasted takes a bit longer to go bad. the protein powder was more for bulk and making you feel full.
