The Good News!!
Jan. 10th, 2006 11:43 amThe first shocking thing that happened this morning was that the woman from the mortgage company actually called me back!! I was planning to call her again today, having given her a "day off" yesterday (called her last week on Wed and Fri).
The second shocking (well, pleasantly surprising) thing that happened was that she said that I do get to keep the $850 refund that the city is sending me, for my overpayment of property taxes.
The third shocking and delightful thing was that she also said they will be decreasing my mortgage payments by about $200/month!!
I'm not sure I understand, or believe, that, since one would think the payments should go down by about $70 (850 divided by 12 months). But she said I'd be getting it all in writing soon, so I'll see if the math makes sense at that point, and call her back if not. It's possible that it is correct since they also needed to reassess my payments anyway due to now being "officially" a condo in the eyes of the city.
In any case, though, my payments WILL be going down, and although a $200/month decrease would be totally awesome, a $70/month decrease would be great too. So either way, I'm psyched.
And this was especially timely since yesterday I found out that my daycare payments are going up (which always happens in January when they redo their budget). It's going up by $12 a week, sigh. Oh well. At least that's still less than $70/month, so I come out ahead, even if only by a few bucks.
