misc tidbits
Jan. 9th, 2006 02:26 pm1. Isaac has taken to yelling "HAPPY NEW YEAR!" at random moments for no apparent reason. This is hilarious.
2. Guy who throws live mouse into a pile of burning leaves gets no sympathy from me when his house burns down after the burning mouse runs back inside. Because, a, why were you burning a pile of leaves in your backyard in a state currently plagued by widespread fires? and b, in what universe is throwing a living creature into a fire okay?
3. It is now illegal to anonymously annoy someone online.
4. My mom says my belly has "popped" and looks noticeably bigger than it did, like, a week ago. This may or may not be true but I know that last week when I was having all kinds of random pains in the belly area, I eventually decided that at least some of them were muscle-stretching pains (whereas the rest were mainly digestive in nature, and only a few, I now theorize, were actually Braxton-Hicks). My mom also says it's funny how dramatically my eating habits change during pregnancy. It is true that when not pregnant I eat, as the saying goes, like a bird. And when pregnant, except at the beginning, I eat tons. We still chuckle over the time when I was pregnant with Isaac when we went out to dinner with a bunch of people from chorus and I kept saying "are you going to finish that? are you eating that?" until people started snatching their plates out of my reach. ;) Last night I was still going back for more spaghetti long after everyone else at the table had moved on to the groaning and moaning about how full they were stage. ;)
Certainly it is the case that many of my shirts and sweaters can no longer go far enough over my belly to cover up the stretchy panel on my maternity jeans. This is distressing. Today I wore a green velvety top thingie that I bought ages ago but never wear because it's way too big. Well, today it isn't way too big, it fits just right (and I got compliments on it so yay). I really need to launder some of the stuff we got thrifting yesterday so I can wear it.
5. Mom gave me a large portion of Doritos out of a bag that she foolishly bought over Xmas (I say foolishly because she always beats herself up for buying, let alone eating, chips). I discovered that, just as during my first pregnancy, I've apparently developed an indifference to Doritos. They just don't taste all that good to me. I nevertheless ate the whole bag. ;)
6. We discovered at the grocery store yesterday that Christmas candy was 75% off. They had Reese's peanut butter trees, which we all love. I believe we bought four packages of them. I also believe that should be three packages for me, and one for my mom and brother and SIL to split. ;) I believe I should go eat a tree now. Or maybe two. Not three. Well, probably not three.
7. But I had a salad for lunch first! Really! I swear!
8. After how many months of hearing people tell me how good Fire Logic by Laurie Marks is, I finally got it out of the library and am about 1/4 or 1/3 of the way through it. It's pretty good so far. Yay for well-written SF with primarily female characters.
I think that's enough randomosity from me for now.
