minor update on the mortgage situation

I called the mortgage company back, talked briefly to one woman, then she put me on hold for quite a while and finally handed me over to another woman. This person had not seen my fax from yesterday and basically had no idea what I was talking about. I explained it as well as I could, and she said a bunch of stuff most of which I didn't understand; what I did get was the part where she said that their tax department is extremely busy right now and probably just in the process of, uh, processing all the tax bills, and may not yet have gotten to mine and that's why when she looked up my account in the computer it didn't say anything about the latest tax bill.

So, she said I should re-fax this stuff to her, at a different fax number, and put her name on it. I did that, and we shall see. I got a phone number from her, her direct line, so if I don't hear back from her by tomorrow, I'll call her back again.

I'm feeling more and more like it's probable that I'll be able to just keep the $850. But, the other question is, will they still adjust my mortgage payment downward based on assuming that next year's taxes will be low? I really hope so. As I said yesterday, I'd much rather have a lower mortgage payment than a chunk of cash. Not that I'm turning up my nose at the chunk of cash, of course!
