Since I'm not going to bed, apparently. Man, tomorrow is gonna suck.

Today I didn't have to work, and I got a first-hand demonstration of why my mom is always totally wiped out by the end of her Thursdays with Isaac. We only did a fraction of the train-riding she usually does (she usually rides the bus with him for a bit, then gets off next to a subway station, rides the subway trains with him for ages, then gets a bus back to her place) but I was totally done in.

We started about 10:30 by driving to the vicinity of the mall, parked, went into the pet store to look at fishes, bought some cat food, put it in the car. Then we walked down to the train station (Lechmere for those as know the area) and got on the train. We rode and rode. Almost every station, Isaac says "we wanna get off this train and get on another one!" So we get off, watch the train go into the tunnel (we wave and say "bye-bye train!"), then get on the next one that comes along. Fortunately, on a weekday morning/afternoon the Green Line trains come quite often. Eventually I turned us around so we were headed back the way we came, and eventually we got back to Lechmere. Walked back to our car (Isaac whining the whole time that "we hafta ride one more train!"), drove home, lunch, nap.

He napped for 2 and a half hours, which is a looonnng nap for him these days. I didn't think I'd fall asleep, but I did, and napped probably at least an hour and a half myself, which is why I'm still wide awake at quarter past midnight, sigh.

Anyway, after nap we had a quieter low-key evening. whew.

I don't know WHAT the heck we're going to do to entertain ourselves tomorrow, but I'll tell you this much: it won't involve riding subways! ;) I was thinking for about thirty seconds of going back to the mall to return my Gap pants. Then I thought, the mall on a Saturday that's also Xmas Eve Day? Um, there isn't enough "no" in the world, but just to get it started: no. We might go to the grocery store, which I imagine will be crowded enough as well, but Isaac should enjoy it. I'm lucky he's easy to entertain, I guess.

Funny story: my mom saw someone on craigslist advertising some Thomas the Tank Engine toy trains (which are compatible with Brio trains, the kind we have at her house). She emailed the person, and it turned out to be the daughter of a friend of hers. So mom went over the other day and bought them, and they will be Isaac's Xmas/Hanukah gift, not that we really do Xmas/Hanukah gifts in our family, but he's getting one anyway, heh. So after tomorrow he'll be even easier to entertain than before. ;) It seems we're going to keep these new trains at our house, so he'll have trains at both places. One might think that eventually he'll get tired of playing with trains. Well, we shall see.

In other news, an online friend sent me a pair of maternity overalls and they arrived today. I think they are cute. According to my poll, 68.2% think that overalls on pregnant chicks are cute, and if you discount the "it depends/not sure" responses, that increases to 90.9%, so, uh, well, you know what they say about lies and statistics. ;) Anyway, the overalls fit fairly well and I shall perhaps wear them around this weekend and see whether they're comfortable and whether I feel like wearing them to work.

And now I really should go eat something and go to bed. Yes. I should not sit here and do five more Evil-level sudokus until 3am. No.

They don't outgrow them. My eight year old still plays with his wooden Thomas trains and track occasionally, even though he's also graduated to a Lionel knock-off set and even more exciting, Lego trains! We love the Lego trains, yes we do. :)
