I went to Trader Joe's and got three cans of their organic free-trade cocoa. After much dithering I also got a thing of sugar-free chocolate-covered almonds for the diabetic teacher. I sort of feel like that's a little lame, but oh well.
I decided not to go back to CVS just for another gift bag for her. I figure I must have one at home that I can reuse. If I get home tonight and that turns out not to be the case, I still have time to run over to CVS either tonight or tomorrow morning. But otherwise, all I have to do is write the last two cards and put everything together, which, since it's just sticking stuff in the gift bags and tossing some tissue paper on top, shouldn't take long. :)
So, at $4 for the cocoa and $2 for the mug and $2ish for the gift bag, I spent about $8 on each of the other three teachers, and about $5 on the diabetic one (which is just the cost of the candy). And it's still a nice gift I think, between the cocoa/candy and the handmade card with a heartfelt message of appreciation. AND I pulled it together in time to give to them before actual Xmas! So yay for that. :)
Thanks to
gosling mentioning Trader Joe's prepackaged salads on her LJ, I picked up one of those as well and had it for lunch. OMG was it good. Greens and pecans and dried cranberries and blue cheese. Yum! I also got a hummus wrap which isn't as good. It has some weird taste to it. Looking at the ingredients, maybe it's the cilantro? I'm not a big fan of cilantro. Ah well.

plaidder on the subject of the Bush administration, wiretaps, the concept of sacrificing civil liberties in favor of security, and so forth. OK, I described it poorly, yeesh, just go read it already.
