saturday recap
Nov. 5th, 2005 10:22 pmWhew! We had a pretty good day.
We did go to the toy store for singalong hour. They did many of Isaac's favorite songs but he didn't really get into it -- he was reticent, as he sometimes gets the first time with such things. Especially since there were a LOT of other kids, most littler than him.
So after a while he got into it a little, but then he said he wanted to leave the singing area. He was more interested in playing with the trains. They have two tables set up with train sets on permanent display to be played with -- it's Brio, the same kind of trains that Isaac has at gramma's house, which he can literally spend hours playing with. Of course at the store they have fancier tracks and trains than the ones we have, which are keepsakes from my childhood. Brio really makes great stuff.
So Isaac played with the trains for a LONG time, while I stood around being super bored. ;) I browsed the store a bit while keeping an eye on him, but I had to hold myself back since their stuff is so expensive. Finally I managed to tear him away, but as we headed for the door we had to pass by the OTHER table of trains, which was even more elaborate than the first, so we stopped again. *groan* At least this one had an adult-size chair nearby for me to sit on and zone out. But it was getting to be lunch/naptime, so eventually I tore him away again and we went home. Then he started melting down -- he was really tired. I rushed us through lunch and put him to bed.
I was tired too. I was as usual lying on the floor while singing Isaac to sleep, and when he fell asleep I could barely rouse myself to get my ass up. I actually dozed off a bit there on the floor, and when I woke up again I was like, this is silly, I should be in my nice cozy bed. So I got up and went there. Got a bit more than an hour of sleep before Isaac woke up, then I took him into my bed and we slept another 45 minutes or so.
Then we got up, played a little, then put on our shoes and went to
gosling and
ceo's party. It was a lot of fun. We played with baby Benjamin, munched, hung out, the usual. Isaac discovered our hosts' collection of baby books and insisted that we read every single one -- mercifully, most of them were NOT ones that we have. ;)
Then eventually I realized that Isaac had a poopy diaper and, ironically, we did not have a spare diaper in the diaper bag. Toys, emergency food, tissues, my wallet and cellphone and keys, yes; an actual diaper in the diaper bag, no. ;) I was pretty sure there was probably one in the car (this turned out to be true), but it was almost 8pm so I figured we might as well just go.
So we came home, read even MORE books, and put Isaac to bed.
All in all a pretty good day.
