packing, packing
Aug. 4th, 2005 02:52 pmI'm packing for our trip to Kansas City. As usual, I am probably way overpacking and will wind up with half a suitcasefull of clothes we never even wear. But whatever. I'm packing two outfits for Isaac per day, in case of spill-related emergencies. I'm also getting obsessive about toys for the plane. I think/hope I have enough. Next up: food for the plane. I'm making a list of things we can bring to munch on that aren't too messy and won't spoil. I don't want to end up buying a lot of overpriced, disgusting airport food.
Last week I hid away a couple of Isaac's favorite books; out of sight out of mind. So now they'll be all fresh and exciting for him when I pull them out on the plane. :) I'm bringing a book for me too, although I doubt I'll get much chance to read it. But you never know.
Our plane leaves at 6:00am. *groan* This means we'll be leaving home at 4:30am. *double groan* On the plus side, Brian our upstairs neighbor is driving us to the airport, to the great relief of my mom. ;) Brian is usually up that early anyway, so it isn't even a hardship for him. And he'll be able to use my car while we're away, if he needs it (he doesn't have a car but often borrows his mom's).
I'm getting excited and nervous about the trip! Just me and Isaac and twenty-five or so other two-year-olds, and their moms whom I know online. What if they all think I'm a dork? What if I think they're all dorks? ;) What if I totally love them and never want to come home? ;)
Anyway, I think I'm doing pretty well on the packing. I bought three new pairs of shorts at Target yesterday (all shorts were on sale; they're putting out all their fall stuff) and have to decide which of them to bring along. I've already decided what Isaac and I will wear on the plane, and packed my underwear and shirts and Isaac's shirts and shorts and diapers. The diapers take up almost half the suitcase. On the plus side, this means it'll be a lot lighter on the way home. ;) Mostly I just have to pack toiletries now, and food. Whee!
Packing is fun! Not!!
