well, that's good I guess.
Jul. 18th, 2005 11:59 amAfter calling the woman at my mortgage company three times and not getting a call back, I finally decided to just call the main customer support number and talk to any old person. I just wanted to know whether they were going to pay my latest property tax bill or whether I was supposed to pay it! Because the bill came to my house, which it never had done before, so I was confused.
Anyway, it turns out that the mortgage company has an automated system where you can find this stuff out without having to talk to an actual person. And it told me that they did in fact pay the bill. That sure is a relief, because that was another $600 that I don't have.
So now I'm torn between being embarrassed that it took me so long to think of using the automated info line, and being annoyed at the woman for never returning my calls. I mean, yeesh. But whatever.
In other financial news, it appears that our payroll company forgot to deduct our flexible spending account payments from last week's paycheck; which means I got approx. $60 less than I should have (because approx. $200 of my check was taxed when it shouldn't have been). Our HR person is on it, and hopefully it'll get cleared up and I'll get that money back at some point, but it's just another link in this really ridiculous chain of financial events lately. I mean, it really is starting to feel like a comedy of errors, except without much laughing. I guess I should be glad that this one only involved $60 and not $600....
