I'm posting a lot today, sorry. Or, not sorry. ;)

The strawberry and raspberry plants that I planted back in May, courtesy of my friend Jessie whose LJ username shall remain, uh, nameless(?), are doing pretty well. The raspberry plant sticks themselves aren't doing anything, but new stalks have sprung up next to them, which I recognize as raspberry leaves/buds. And all three of the strawberry plants have sprouted leaves and little bud things. I think I'm supposed to remove the buds and not let them produce berries this year, or something? I should find out, I guess.

There are a lot of other plants growing up around them too, which I assume are weeds. I pulled up a few of them. I should ask someone with an actual clue to advise on those.

Also, a while back I mentioned that we have plants in our backyard that smell like mint, and [livejournal.com profile] tiggrrl said I should post a picture so she could try to identify them, so here they are: one close-up fuzzy picture and one farther-away sharp picture.

Ok, I've seen this stuff before, and if I'm recalling correctly, it's a member of the mint family, but not one that's commonly used for anything like cooking or eating. Very unlikely to be dangerous, but also not useful. Hey, at least the lawn smells nice when you mow it, right?

Yeah, I thought that might be the case. Well, thanks for confirming!
