I keep meaning to do this, and then [livejournal.com profile] aelf asked, so here it is. I compiled a list of the main survey companies/sites that I'm signed up with.

In the following list, an S after the URL means that for each survey completed, you get entered into a daily, weekly, or monthly sweepstakes where you can win stuff -- usually cash, but in some case prizes or points. A P after the URL means that for each survey completed, you receive "points" which you can accumulate and exchange for prizes. In some cases, the survey will start off with a few screening questions, and if you don't give the answers they want, you get "screened out" which means that you don't get the full survey. In this case you usually get a smaller reward (e.g. a smaller number of points). In some cases, you'll get a sweepstakes entry if you screen out, and points if you screen in and finish the survey. Something like this is the case for those that have both an S and a P in my list below.

I've also used an asterisk system to indicate how often each company sends email about new surveys: one asterisk * for fairly infrequently, two ** for fairly frequently, and three *** for very frequently. Keep in mind that each time you get an email about a new survey, it's entirely your choice whether to take it or not. They usually keep each survey open for a few days.

ZoomPanel http://www.zoompanel.com/ S P ***

Advisory Panel http://www.advisorypanel.com S *

NFO http://www.mysurvey.com S P **

Harris Poll http://www.harrispollonline.com/ S P ***

American Consumer Opinion http://www.acop.com *

NPD Online Research http://www.npdor.com/ S **

Synovate http://www.ConsumerOpinionPanel.com S ***

LightSpeed http://www.lightspeedpanel.com/ S P **

There's also http://www.surveysavvy.com/ which I just recently joined and cannot yet recommend or say much about since I'm new to it.

I hope this info is helpful/useful to some. Feel free to pass it on. If you do sign up with any of these places and they ask for a referral, please give my email address: p1sces(at)englishchick(dot)com. (That's Pisces with a number one instead of the letter i.)

By the way: As for the prizes you can get if you save up enough points. These are decent prizes, not rinky-dink crap. I have received the following: a crockpot, a food processor, a dustbuster (handheld mini vacuum), a pair of wireless headphones for watching TV, and most recently my wireless mouse. Also, some places offer cash as an option.

I'm only signed up with a couple of these, so thank for the info on the others! I like the idea that I, with my weird tastes, am helping to make national marketing decisions. ;)

I just got a $40 check in the mail yesterday from NFO/MySurvey.com - Score! Last week, I got a $10 check from ACOP.

Another that pays cash:

Here's my question: Have you ever actually won a sweepstakes? I've given up doing surveys for companies that don't award points or cash for each survey. If I knew someone who had actually one a sweepstakes I might consider doing that company's surveys. So let me know if you've actually won anything from any of the ones marked "S"!

A few times, out of the blue, I've received a check for $5 or $10 from Synovate. They never say whether it's for a particular survey or for a sweepstakes, so I'm not sure. They do say that their sweepstakes give away something like 50, $10 prizes and 5, $100 prizes, or something like that. Synovate also sends me trinkets occasionally (like pens, pads of post-it notes, etc.).

I've never won a sweepstakes from any of the others. But Harris -- I should have said this in the original post -- Harris usually does both, enters you in the sweepstakes AND gives points. And the sweepstakes thing doesn't bother me too much because I really just like filling out surveys anyway. :) But I can certainly see your point. If I were you and felt strongly about it, I'd go with Harris, Zoompanel, Lightspeed, and MySurvey, and forget the rest.

Do you have to be from a certain country to enter? Finland hasn't got this sort of things going on, so I keep wondering whether or not I should/could take part in something like this.

I really have no idea. I would imagine you can go to the "sign-up" page and it will tell you.

And if you see an ad banner for Pinecone Research, click it. They do surveys about once a month for $5, and product testing if you fit the target demographic with follow-up survey for another $5.

Yep. I'm also a member of Pinecone, but I didn't put it on the list because AFAIK they don't allow just anyone to go to their website and sign up.

It's not open enrollment, but it is definitely worth snagging a chance at should one appear.

Bugger, I can't sign up for Lightspeed -- I'm with a Kantar company. :( Which is the parent.
