I have my car back! yay!
Jun. 14th, 2005 09:22 pmWhew! It was touch and go for a little while there. I realized while leaving work that although I had left early to allow enough time to get to the rental place before they closed at 6, I hadn't factored in the time needed for the rental people to drive me back to the body shop to retrieve my car. And the body shop also closed at 6. And I had planned the timing to arrive at the rental place at 5:45. And it's a 10-minute drive to the body shop, but that's NOT during rush hour. Ack!!!
Luckily, as it turns out, I had allowed enough extra padding that we actually got to the rental place at 5:30. I didn't realize they would use the same car we had rented, to drive us to the body shop; so I took the carseat out of it, and then had to put it back in. D'oh. But we made it to the body shop in plenty of time and got our car back. w00t!
I had to pay $50some to the rental place because the insurance hadn't coughed up yet, and $50some to the body shop because the insurance didn't cover "betterment," but hopefully I'll get at least some of that back. Oh well. Even if I don't, the repairs plus two days of a rental car would have cost me a LOT more than $100 without insurance.
I did lose my bumper stickers :( and shall have to ponder what to replace them with. I wasn't that crazy about "War doesn't determine who's right, only who's left," but I was pretty fond of "teach peace" and, of course, "Yankees Suck!" Oh well, for the moment at least I still have "Make jobs, not war."
Isaac went to bed super early tonight, so I bet he'll wake up early in the morning. I better not stay up too late.
