strange amounts of money received
May. 19th, 2005 01:10 pmYou may recall that a few months ago I got some money for stock that I owned in a company where I used to work, after that company got bought out. The amount that I received was about 80% of the total amount my stock was worth, and the paperwork said that the rest was "escrow."
A fellow coworker who was also a coworker at that previous company, said that the escrow was to hold onto some of the money until 6 months had passed after the sale of the company. Well, the sale was finalized on Nov 1st, and here it is May. So I got another check.
This check is for 40% of the remaining amount (says right here on the paper, "Ref: 40% of escrow amt"), or about $150. So I have now received about 88% of what my stock was worth.
It's all very strange and now I have no idea whether or when I should expect to receive the remaining $230. I suppose if I had the time and patience to wade through the mountains of paperwork they sent me about the buyout, it might tell me somewhere in there what's going to happen to the rest of the money. But, instead I think I'll just live in bewilderment. Or maybe I'll ask the aforementioned coworker. :)
Anyway, it's another $150 that I wasn't expecting, since I had totally forgotten about it all, so that's nice. :)
