further proof that I work with geeks
May. 18th, 2005 02:58 pmIn case there was ever any doubt that I work with kindred spirits: this morning while chatting with a coworker, I said, "so, tonight's the big night, tomorrow's the big day!" And with no context provided whatsoever, he exclaimed, "We should all go see it together!"
Yes, folks, Star Wars fever has gripped the office. I'm not even expecting it to do anything other than suck, and yet I still have to see it, of course! Later, during lunch, we discussed the feasibility of actually organizing a "field trip" to see it on Friday (not tomorrow, as several of us will be working from home). One coworker was giving us an odd look, and we teased him that this was because he was thinking "Friday? Are they nuts? I'll already have seen it twice by then." He did not deny it. ;)
Then the guy who originally suggested the field trip said that he wasn't really sure we could get approval, and I of course said, "it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission" ;) but I kind of doubt that we'll actually do it. We've got soooooo much work right now.
Personally I'm hoping to see it over Memorial Day weekend with a friend who'll be visiting from out of town. I just can't get excited enough to want to see it opening day or even opening weekend (plus I'm busy all weekend anyway). Oh, how the mighty have fallen! When Phantom Menace came out, I had tickets to THREE different showings on opening day!
