tooooo much stuff!
May. 16th, 2005 11:06 amUgh, well here I am at work and tired as usual. I had a nice nap yesterday when Isaac did, but that meant I had trouble falling asleep last night, sigh.
Every morning when Isaac and I are leaving for daycare/work, I end up going back at least once for something that I forgot. I honestly worry that I'm going to give him some kind of a complex, because I'll put on his coat and my coat, pick up my purse, say "okay, let's go," open the front door, then remember something, go back into the apartment to get it .... Sometimes we even get all the way out the door, close it and lock it, and then I have to unlock it again and leave Isaac on the porch while I run back inside. And sometimes, like today, I strap him into his carseat and then have to leave him there while I run back in. Ugh! I worry that he's going to think that's just what you do when you leave the house in the morning. I worry that he's never going to think "okay, we're ready, let's go" really means what it means.
Of course, today was particularly bad in terms of stuff we need, because it's a Monday, and because I'm taking Isaac to chorus rehearsal tonight due to grievous lack of babysitting coverage. So this morning, I had to bring along the following:
* my usual bag of stuff for work
* bagel and cream cheese for my breakfast
* Isaac's usual bag of stuff for daycare
* daycare sheet and blanket (this is a Monday thing, since they send his bedding home on Fridays for me to wash over the weekend)
* new package of diapers for daycare
* my sheet music for rehearsal
* toys/books to entertain Isaac during rehearsal
* food for Isaac during rehearsal (which entails thinking of things that are a) non-perishable and b) not too messy)
* black blouse to take to rehearsal to show to the folks in charge and have them verify that it's acceptable concert wear
On a typical day I just have the first three items on that list. On a typical Monday, I have the first four. So obviously this was a lot more stuff than usual, and it certainly made me a bit nuts. Ugh! Oh well, at least we did get out the door eventually!
I don't really have any high hopes that Isaac will make it through much of the rehearsal tonight. If I get in ten minutes or so of good rehearsing with him playing quietly, I'll be surprised. But I have to at least give it a try, because it's only a couple of weeks till our concert.
P.S.
rainbow_goddess, I finally got around to mailing your book this morning. Hopefully you'll get it sometime in calendar 2005, subject to the whims of the USPS....
