wow, a convert?
Apr. 28th, 2005 05:31 pmMy mom just emailed me asking whether I have a copy of Hitchhiker's Guide that she can borrow. I guess that even after what, 15+ years of me raving about how much this book rules, it took me raving about how much I'm looking forward to the movie to make her decide to read it. Uh, sorry for the hideous grammar/structure in the previous sentence, but I think you get my drift. Anyway, I shall lend her the book, and we'll see what happens from there.
Actually, I have a vague memory of forcing her to read HHGG at some point in the past, so maybe she'll open it up and go "this looks familiar"? Who knows.

Date: 2005-04-28 10:04 pm (UTC)The effect that email/web-based communication has had on my grammer/sentence structure is nothing short of appalling. I am a professional TECHNICAL EDITOR, for gawds sake! I correct other people's grammar and usage for a living. And I'm good at it....a real stickler for proper usage and all that jazz. Via e-communication, however, I come across like a barely literate teeny bopper.
Maybe it's similar to the dichotomy of maintaining a neat/tidy home while keeping my car a complete mess?
