constant cravings
Apr. 9th, 2002 12:51 amI'm going berzerk with the Twizzlers tonight. It's the weirdest thing.
I'm usually not the type who gets out of control with candy/junkfood. Not like my mom, who literally can't be in an apartment with potato chips. (I'm not kidding -- she simply cannot coexist with the knowledge that there are potato chips. She has to eat the ENTIRE bag.) Au contraire, I actually tend to horde chocolate and cookies, to a really neurotic degree, actually. (It's all about my thing where, yeah, I think I want chocolate today, but what if something happens tomorrow that makes me need chocolate even MORE and there's none? But I digress.)
Anyway, but lately I've been on a Twizzler kick, and tonight I was shopping and they were on post-Easter sale and I foolishly bought some. And then here I was, sitting on the sofa digesting the evening's stir-fry, idly thinking about what else I might eat tonight, and I went, "lessee, what else did I buy," and I thought of the Twizzlers, and suddenly I was utterly consumed by the need to eat Twizzlers. I mean, it was intense. There was nothing I could do but get up, get the bag, open it, and start eating. (I didn't eat the whole bag, luckily. Urgh.)
Normally I like to go with the theory that a craving for a particular food means your body is deficient in some nutrient provided by that food, but in the Twizzler case this seems unlikely. Unless it's, you know, sugar. But I hardly think my body can be suffering a lack of sugar, yo.
Anyway, what I like about Twizzlers is their chewiness, and their flavor, and the way they taste different if you chew them versus if you just suck on them. And, I dunno, I'm probably thinking about this way too much. It distracts from thinking about my job interview and how early I'm gonna have to get up.
But still, I mean, dude. Twizzlers. WTF?
