I definitely have a cold. :( I woke numerous times last night again, with the sore/scratchy throat and the nasal congestion. The humidifier did help, but still. And then around 4:30am the cat started meowing continuously because his food dish was empty. Too bad!!! I'm not getting up at 4:30 when I'm sick just to feed you! It's not exactly as if this cat is wasting away, for fuck's sake.

Anyway, today being the last day my mom will be around before she leaves for her 10-day trip (to Bermuda -- yeah, I don't wanna talk about it), I'm taking full advantage. She just came and got Isaac, and now I'm trying to decide whether to clean a bit -- which I really want to do as this place is totally disgusting and I hate it -- or just go back to bed. I don't have any physical energy at all, so I'm thinkin' it's gonna be bed. Maybe I'll set my alarm for an hour or two and then try to get up and do a little cleaning.

Oh, and I got confirmation of what I had suspected -- that Isaac has been playing in the litterbox while I'm in the other room. :( I caught him sitting on the floor next to it, using the scoop thingie to fish out the turds and put them on top of the box of kitty litter. I also found some turds on the kitchen table. Ewwwwww. I'm trying to figure out what I can do to break him of this nasty habit, aside from watching him like a hawk every minute. *sigh*

Maybe get a hood for the litter box to make it harder for him to get into it?

Maybe get a dishpan that you fill with rice/beans/some other dry thing. Then you can hide his cars and stuff in it, and he can dig *them* out. I find that just telling Zoe she can't do something is a guarantee she *will* do it (or rather, that I'll get more and more frustrated every time she does it). But if I come up with some sort of replacement, she's likely to gravitate to it. So you can explain to Isaac that the litter box is the kitty's, but he has his very own box!

(If I fill something with beans/rice Zoe will eventually dump it out onto the floor. Fair warning. *grin*)

What about changing to a box with a snap on cover? That might keep him out of the litter.

Self-cleaning litter box or one that's harder to get into are my votes.
