As promised, it's snowing pretty hard right at rush hour. Argh! They're pretty much predicting it to keep snowing all day and dump another 5-8 inches by the end of the day.

So we're staying home. No sense in getting out on the roads in this, never mind giving up my parking space again. But the reason I'm an idiot is that I left Isaac's boots at daycare. No, no, I did it deliberately, you see. Every day when I pick him up, I mentally evaluate the chances that we'll need them vs. the hassle of toting them home and back again, and last night I was all "oh we won't need them, we're just going home and then coming back tomorrow." Duh! Idiot! Now he's not going to be back there till Friday, so he'll be bootless for two snowy days, including tomorrow when he spends the day with grandma and quite possibly they'll want to go have fun in the snow. ARGH.

Well, I have a pair of boot-ish things from [livejournal.com profile] anotherjen, which are a bit too big but maybe they'll do. Or maybe we won't go out -- just sit here in the house, slowly going completely insane from cabin fever. SIGH.

I just can't do anything right this week. Can I get a do-over?

Hey, you have boots for your kid, I take mine out in the snow in her sneakers (which I then put on the radiator to dry). I figure we're not ever going to be out for more than, say, 15 minutes. And that's just about enough time for the snow to seep down into her socks. So I figure her feet never really get *cold* (and they don't feel cold when I take off her shoes). I could put plastic bags over her sneakers and hold them on with rubber bands (this is what we did when I was a kid), but I've been too lazy to dig up bags.

Sorry this week's getting you down.

If it makes you feel any better, we left Adrian's snow boots at school on Friday, and we haven't been back to school since due to the pinkeye infection from hell. There's a ton of snow out there, and he could really use the excercise, but we won't let him outside because there's too much snow for him to handle in just shoes. We tried once, and he lasted less than ten minutes before he was at the door crying because he was too cold to open the door. I really should just leave work early today and swing by the school to get the boots (and the homework he's been missing!), but I doubt it'll happen.

If the boots that you got from [livejournal.com profile] anotherjen are just a little too big, maybe they would fit better if you put an extra pair of socks on Isaac? (Tries to determine how difficult it would be to put more socks on a squirming toddler.) When I was a kid I constantly got hand-me-downs from my older siblings, and that included snow boots; if they were too big for me my mother would make me wear an extra pair (or tow!) of socks, figuring they'd keep my feet warm as well as help the boots fit.
