How was your 2004? Year in Review
Part 1

1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before? Bought a house.
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I don't think I made any.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Yes, a friend in my chorus. And a couple of coworkers' wives, if they count.
4. Did anyone close to you die? No.
5. What countries did you visit? None :(
6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004? A girlfriend :)
7. What dates from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? May 5th, we closed on the house. June 11th, Isaac turned one. October 27th, the Red Sox won the World Series. :)
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Buying the house.
9. What was your biggest failure? Nothing major comes to mind. I've had plenty of smaller failures with Isaac, but those are to be expected.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? I got that nice second-degree burn on my leg from spilling hot tea on it during my grandma's 90th birthday celebration. And this cold I've been working on for three weeks now. Other than that, not really.
11. What was the best thing you bought? The house :) Or maybe the car. Nah, the house.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration? My mom, for all her support with everything.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? The American voting public. :(
14. Where did most of your money go? The house. Are we sensing a theme? ;) Also, daycare.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Every milestone of Isaac's. Being there for the first gay marriage applications. The Red Sox. Also, the house. ;)
16. What song will always remind you of 2004? ??
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder?
Happier.
b) thinner or fatter? I think about the same.
c) richer or poorer? Way poorer. It's the whole house thing again. And daycare.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Playing the piano, reading, singing to Isaac, exercising.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Wasting time on the computer; driving to work. :P

Part 2

20. How will you be spending Christmas? Apparently at a friend's dinner party.
21. Whom did you spend the most time on the phone with? Probably my mom.
22. Did you fall in love in 2004? No.
23. How many one-night stands? Bwahahaha!
24. What was your favourite TV program? The Daily Show. And Queer Eye.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? No.
26. What was the best book you read? Paladin of Souls by Lois Bujold.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery? I'm not sure what that means. A musical performer that I discovered? Well, I'll say the Levin version of the Mozart Requiem, which my chorus performed in May.
28. What did you want and get? A house. And a car. And legal gay marriages. And a Red Sox World Series championship. :)
29. What did you want and not get? More sleep. A raise. President Kerry.
30. What was your favourite film of this year? LOL! I don't think I saw a movie all year. Oh, maybe I saw one, and it was the third LOTR movie. I guess it becomes my favorite by default then.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I was 30, and I didn't do much special. Went to work. My mom took me out to dinner and brought cupcakes she had baked. The following weekend, we saw Jon Stewart performing live. :)
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? More sleep. President Kerry.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004? HAHAHAHAHAHA!
34. What kept you sane? I don't think I am. But if so, it must have been my mom.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Jon Stewart. :)
36. What political issue stirred you the most? That's a tough one. I'll have to go with the gay marriage because I think it's kind of a bellwether for a lot of other stuff.
37. Whom did you miss? Hmm, [livejournal.com profile] tiggrrl.
38. Who was the best new person you met? I can't think of anyone. Yikes, I gotta start meeting new people! I'll say Nino, the baby I mentioned in #3.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004: When your child is hitting milestones later than the norm, people whose children also did so will come out of the woodwork to tell you their stories. Hmm, is that a valuable life lesson? Maybe I should generalize it to, "lots of children hit milestones later than the norm."
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: Um, no?
